I need new laptop for University.
First i though i go with vaio z
then i was thinking of the MBP
    now
I am planning on buying a ThinkPad T400.
I am i really in the right direction with my choice
    I have some question
I heard that if i go with T9400 processor or the T9600 processor the Battery life gonna go down to like 6 hours with the 9 cell Battery
    Is that right

    Another qustion
    320GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
200 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
64 GB Solid State Drive, Serial ATA

What the different between the three in boot time and heat and noise

    Thanks in advance.

Please undo the bold, that hurts my eyes to read all of that.
I'd suggest filling out the faq in the What Notebook Should I Buy? section, so you can get better advice. :)

You will not see that much of a drop in battery life if you go with the T9400 or T9600 - these processors draw 35W of power as compared to the P8400/P8600, but that is under full load, which your laptop won't reach unless you're doing some hardcore gaming or running other CPU intensive applications. If you still want the speed of the T series, there is the P9500 which has the same clock speed (2.53ghz) and L2 cache (6mb) as the T9400 but still only draws 25W of power.

In terms of the hard drives, this is the order of speed/heat:

Speed or Boot time (from fastest to slowest)
SSD -> 200gb 7200rpm -> 320gb 5400rpm (although the brand of the harddrive has a significant effect on this..)

    Noise/heat (from hottest/loudest to cool/quiet)
    200gb 7200rpm -> 320gb 5400rpm -> SSD (again, brand matters)

    Hope this helps.

Well, if you want to run OSX, obviously you’ll need the MBP.

what's your need? what's yuor load for the new thinkpad? I personally won't get a really big HD (ordered one with 160), because you don't really want to store too much data on a laptop.
