    Hi,

I am going to buy a new X60 since lenovo has a promotion again today. The model 1709CTO can get at $1170 w/o tax. But it only comes with 1 year warranty. Another model, 1706KEU, basically has the same specification as the 1709CTO except 3 year warranty. And the price is about $200 more. I am graduate student with tight budget. So I wonder how strong will you recommend the 3 year warranty?

    Thank you.

It depends on how long you would like it to last. It's good to have a long warranty, but not always people use it. Some people have never called customer support.
    But you never now......
Personally I went for 3 year warranty.

You can upgrade the warranty later as funds become available. I think it is $149 to upgrade to three years of depot repair. You can do it anytime while the notebook is still under warranty.

Yeah that is the plus side of IBM support. You can actually upgrade your warranty anytime during the current warranty period. If you decide that you going to keep the laptop longer then you can decide to upgrade at the end of current period.

    Thanks for your guys replies.

I'd agree it'd better to have the 3-year warranty. At least I want to keep it for four years, that's when I will graduate.

Is the purchased three years of depot repair the same warranty as the one come with 1706keu model? When I ask a sale agent online, she told me that I need to pay $249 for 3-year warranty. I wonder why the price is different.
