if you buy a thinkpad x60 from another retailer such as buy.com and the x60 comes with a 3 year depot warranty. Can you upgrade the warranty with thinkpad protection with lenovo?

You can also buy Thinkpads from Staples or Newegg.com

I'm not sure, but it's worth a try to see if Lenovo will offer you an extended warranty even though you didn't buy the lappy from them.
