I'm tired of waiting for my T61 to be shipped and school starts in less than 2 weeks. I have the opportunity to buy a used T60 for $1000 (purchased new in Oct 06). It has about 2.5 years left on the warranty but I want to know it's transferable before I buy it. Full specs are as follows. Seems hard to pass up for $1000.

    Core 2 Duo T7200 2.00 Ghz
    14.1 inch, SXGA+ screen (1450x1050)
    2 gb of Ram
    80gb hard drive
    Ati X1400 video card
    9 Cell battery
    Windows XP Pro
    Fingerprint reader
    A/B/G wireless
    CD-RW, DVD-RW
    Bluetooth

    3 yr warranty started in October-ish '06

Yes. warranty goes with the computer not the person.

So assuming everything is in good condition this is still a good deal right? I guess I'm giving up the new "hardened" screen protector, quieter fan and cooler processor but for $900 less it seems like it is a good deal.

I don't know what will you be doing with the laptop but for basic school stuff, yes it's a good deal at least for me. Remember the 9-cell battery will stick out.

As long as its in decent condition, its a very good deal...the 14.1" SXGA+ screen is hard to find (expensive) nowadays. That system new would probably be around $18-1900.

Agree that is a fantastic deal.
And that's a nice machine, as long as you like 14" sxga+
