OCZ has just brought out trim support for its summit SSD drives, but it trims via a bootable usb drive. In my bios I only see booting options, other than for HDD and CD, for "usb-HD" and "usb-FDD". Can I boot a W500 from a usb?

You should be fine, just plug the USB key, press F12 at computer boot and select the appropiate option, it works fine on my T61.

Try it and see, you may need to check some options in the BIOS are enabled.

I just wish you could boot through and expresscard based connection, ain't managed that yet. Probably not possible.

You can have some fun with booting from usb. if you can gain access to someone's computer you can plug one into the back and then change the boot options, moohaha.
