    can SSD hardrive be used in T61?

    HI GUYS!

    i'm thinking of putting an SSD harddrive in my T61. is it possible? is the thinkpad t61 harddrive a SATA II connection?

    You can upgrade to a SSD, but the T61 has the SATA controller throttled to 150MBps. Drives like the Intel X25-M or OCZ Vertex won't be able to use near their full capacity because they're being choked by the controller. The best choice if money is not an object is probably the Samsung SLC.

    Yes.. Lenovo have capped the bios to setup a SATA link at 1.5Gbps, rather than allow uncapped operations, as is allowed by the ICH8M I/O controller, to function at 3Gbps. So you wouldn't see full 220+MB/s streaming with say the OCZ Vertex. If you'd like this cap removed, suggest reading this.
