I just want to make sure before a buy a 14 inch t61 that i can use my 2 19 inch lcds with it. The advanced mini dock has a dvi and vga output so i am going to buy that as well. could someone try it if they have the dock or tell me if they already have. I currently do it with my nc6000 with a port replicator by disabling the laptop screen

i wouldnt use them with clone mode. they would be seperate, independant screens like i use now. So i can type a paper in word on one screen while i research the topic on the other.

Unless I am missing something, how exactly does this work? I have 2 monitors hooked up to my T60 through the advanced mini, and its either/or, not both.

Ok, I just tried the Omega drivers and the stock Lenovo drivers without success. Its either VGA output or DVI. It detects all 3 displays (LCD, DVI, VGA) but only allows 2 going at the same time.

That is correct, it will only do two at a time without an additional video card.

The two can have independent images.

In his post, he implies that he is intending to run two external monitors at one time. He never mentioned anything about running his laptop panel as well. And as far as I know, it is possible to run both in extended view or clone view. This is the picture of one of my D630 with X3100. If worse comes to worse, he can always use a triplehead or dualhead.

yeh i disable the laptop screen when i do it currently.

could i really get another video card in the advanced docking station or laptop to run say 3 19's?

serious gto....hows that x3100 run those 2 monitors? i am debating between getting the quadro 140 and the x3100 on my t61. i was told that the dedicated graphics would help with my video rendering but im not sure about that.

with my current setup and cant use vista aero when i have my 2 monitors running. can you with the x3100?

Neither the Omega or stock drivers allow you to disable the LCD panel in place of an additional display. Was this a Nvidia/X3100 thing for the T61?

After wayyyy too much confusion I finally got it to work. Only the Omega drivers would allow it, as the lenovo drivers wouldnt give you the option to disable the LCD. You had to open up the menu a few times ti finally get it to recognize both displays were connected at the same time, but once that happened you could turn off the laptops lcd, and switch 1/2 between the DVI and VGA ports.

The X3100 runs the screens flawlessly. Aero doesn't work, but honestly... who gives a shiet?

The X3100 is running the two monitors via docking station with VGA (analog) and DVI (Digital).

ok thanks. i wonder if you simply cant use aero when using multiple monitors. like who said who cares. Now my idea is to see if i can run 3 19 inch lcd's. SInce the advanced dock has a slot for a pci express. I am hoping i could get a pci express graphic card and power 3 monitors. aahh it would be sweet for school.

i remember looking those up awhile ago. I think they were really expensive though. and it doesnt give you 3 independent displays does it? I can get a video card for the docking statiopn for about 50 dollars which isnt very much at all. I just nee dsomeone to confirm for me that it will work.

Why don't you guys just use presentation director? It's so much easier than these other apps - and no drivers needed! :p Seriously though, it works w/stock Lenovos on Intel and Nvidia.

The drivers I was commenting on were ATI card drivers. The T61 only has a NVDIA and Intel card option.

I am sorry if I risuscitate such an old thread. But can anyone here confirm that it is possible to use 2 external monitors attached to a docking station?
If so, which docking station would you recommend?

    Thanks
