that should work. the z61 series only support SATA I so the drive speed will be a bit limited (to around 130 MB/s max). any SATA drive will work though.

My 1st Z61t has a Intel G1 80 GB SSD, works perfectly fine. Even imaged it with Lenovo recovery media.

I just put a 256 gb SSD in my Lenovo Z61T. My previous HD was a 320 gb Fujitsu 7200 rpm, which was over 3 years old. I like to change hard drives every three years because worry about crashes. Won't have that worry with the SSD.

I bought my Z61t 14.1 in February 2008 as a new leftover. I quickly replaced the 120 gb 5200 rpm hard drive with the 7200 rpm. Had to do it, given that the new Fujitsu was only $69 at Newegg. At the time the SSD drives were very expensive.

My Z61t was a hybrid of sorts...a mix of multimedia and business...albeit really quiet stereo speakers. But I have to say, durability is as good as any Thinkpad T series I have ever owned. I use it every day and the hinges are still as tight as the day I bought it. It also is really durable and looks brand-new, especially since it has seen its share of drops.

The only thing I've replaced is the keyboard...and only because the L was iffy. In this world of planned obsolescence, I can seriously picture using this notebook for another five years. Try that with an HP, Dell or Sony.

It'll surely work, seeing as SATA is SATA is SATA, though the z61t is limited to SATAI, so I'd look for a good SATAII SSD. I'd recommend the Intel 320 or Samsung 470, since the SandForce drives back in those days were pretty unreliable.
