For the newer TPs, can batteries be hot plugged and unplugged?

what do you mean? like if AC is plugged with the battery, can you just pull it out?

I mean, when you are in your OS, the power is plugged, the system is on, and you want to change your battery.
Hah, yea, unless you have an extra battery in the optical bay, pulling out a non AC plugged lappy battery will be a bad idea. -
Yes, I don't know of any recent computers that can't do that... my 4-year-old Averatec and my Thinkpad T500 can do so just fine.

I do it all the time. It's especially useful when I'm using my tablet as a slate because removing the battery cuts the weight of the system by almost a pound and is far more pleasant to hold for long periods.
