i can't find a definitive answer anywhere, it's doing my head in, i don't have the original screen because i purchased the laptop as not working, to fix up myself from ebay, it's complete now, i just need a working screen.
i can use the machine via hdmi and it works fine.
so far i've tried a full hd 40 pin screen and it didn't work, blank screen and no back light so am returning it, not sure if it's faulty or incompatible...was b156hw01
various forums mention 720p / 1080p lvds cables but i can't find any definitive answer on that, my cable says QIQY6 DC02001ME0J
i also don't know if the cable is faulty? can someone shed some light on the matter?
never found it so difficult to find a screen for a laptop before now, i don't know if it can take a 720p or a 1080p one...

You most likely need a 720p screen. I ran into something similar with my y510p. My laptop came with a 720 screen and I wanted to upgrade it to a 1080p screen from my older laptop, but when I made the switch, the 1080p screen wouldn't turn on I even bought a couple different cables from ebay but nothing seemed to work (may have just bought the wrong calbe), so I gave up and stuck with the 720p (using an external monitor now). I do have the DC02001ME0J cable sitting in my drawer so I know it didnt work btw.
Easiest solution would be to get a 720p screen. I'm sure there is a cable out there that might make it connect with the 1080. And I think this thread might be helpful:
