I called post sale inquires. They told me if I want to change to a 6 cell battery, I can only return the whole computer and get a new one, which would include a 20% restocking fee. They don't offer replacement on parts.

I bought the laptop 2 weeks ago, and I still have my 1 year warrentee on the battery. Should I call again? Or is this policy final?

they don't offer refund on single parts, so there is no point in you calling them back.

why do you want to change anyway? the 9 cell is the best bang for the buck and apparenly doesn't add too much weight. i just bought mine with a 9 cell.

with a 6 cell, I could get enough batterylife and it would fit into my backpack better.

well anyway Lenovo don't offer single parts refund. So either use it as it is, or get a new battery pack (or sell the one you have and use the money towards the 6 cells).

I just got my X201s yesterday & have both. It came with a 6 cell & I bought the 9 cell separately for the extended life. It's incredibly light with the 6 cell, but honestly not that much heavier/bulkier with the 9. With the 6, it feels a little lighter than my eee 1000h; with the 9, just a bit heavier. Maybe the comparison helps. You can get a new 6 cell from ebay for a decent price, I'd look there or the outlet if you still really want the 6 cell.

Probably your best bet would to be to buy a genuine 6-cell battery and sell your 9-cell. There's definitely a demand for them; I'll be looking for one pretty shortly, actually. I take it you've got an X201? :)

QFT. I got the four and nine cell batteries. I like the weight on the four cell, but miss the handle when using it.
