It looks like T61p reviews are starting pop up left and right. Here's one from cnet:

But I cannot respect your comment about Lenovo being "Communist Schmucks". You can blame them for not mastering the logistics game or not being able to keep up with demand. Or just being plain unprofessional. You can do the same with many other companies. Dell for example. Sony has had their fair share of problems as well.
But to pull the China card is just plain ignorant and childish. Unfortunately this is not the first time I have seen this.
Many people seem to like blaiming Lenovo for every single flaw that their ThinkPad has. Fine. ThinkPads are made by Lenovo. But I am sick of people stating that it is because Lenovo is a Chinese company and thus the quality is bad. You cannot compare small unreliable companies in China with a company like Lenovo. Besides Lenovo has been smart enough to let the former ThinkPad division be fairly shielded from too much Lenovo interference.
I have used ThinkPads for ages and I cannot say there have been much of a difference since Lenovo took over. In my opinion the few changes have been positive.
I rarely see people comment about Lenovo's positive development of the ThinkPads though:
Lenovo's contribution to ThinkPad (taken from Wikipedia)
* Added Magnesium-alloy chassis roll cage to reduce motherboard flex caused by holding the laptop one handed on a corner.
* Added Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic to 15" Thinkpad Models.
* Reintroduced a line of Tablet PCs based on the X series.
* Introduced Widescreen displays with the Z series of Thinkpads and added the option of Widescreen to the T series models.
* Brought back a consumer friendly laptop under the Z series line of Thinkpads.
* Added the Windows key making all the Windows shortcuts possible. (Although possible before with the keyboard remapping utility)
* Added Magnesium-alloy lid roll cage for a sturdier lid while replacing the lid material from magnesium-alloy to plastic for better wireless signal reception.[25]
* Official support for Linux.[26]
In any case, be angry all you want. That is fair enough. But stop the China bashing. It is getting old and annoying. -
Agreed.
Although I'd rather buy something that was made in my own country, I can't... so live with it. -
Have you ever been to China? Have you ever worked 1:1 with the Chinese? (not talking about the Chinese Restarunt either)
If you haven't you are not fit to judge the situation and are merely trying to be PC.
The credits you give them from Wiki are not the Chinese company which bough the IBM division with the Communist Chinese Government's surplus funds (do some reading on CNN Money.) All the shopping at places like Wall Mart has feathered the Chinese nest. These accreditation were done by the American company IBM and merely made in China.
Do some business in China, once you have dealt with the Chinese ME mentality you will open your eyes and realize that being PC is nice and all, but has no grasp on the reality of what you are dealing with.
Chinese business ethics has no grounds in what we would call ethical professional behavior. They couldn't give a rat's azz about the westerner, fact is that they hate us just on the basis of who we are. There is no question that they would place making a quick buck ahead of doing what is right.
I've been there. I've worked with them and I don't give a crap about being PC when I'm getting the shaft from a Communist Chinese company when I understand all too well what's happening.
China may have $1/day labor, but it has a long way to go before they are up to the world's standards in ethics and professional business practices. -

Well it's nice to know that you at least thought through your thoughts before commenting. I can respect that more. But most of what you just stated above is seen from one person's angle. I am not trying to be politically correct. I am just stating my views.
Have I ever been to China? Yes. Maybe travelled to China about 150 times. I've lived in Beijing for a total of 5 years. Been working in the Asian region (including China) for about 9 years.
In the beginning I couldn't help but be annoyed by some of the cultural phenomena in China. I couldn't help but feel superior in many aspects. But after a while I learned that I should stop measuring them according to my standards and culture, and be more pragmatic about it. The same applies to any other culture/country. Just because one does not like it, doesn't mean it is bad per se. -
Interesting thanks -
Cnet review below an 8.0 and the only con is the warranty?

I’ve been to China many times and must say that Monster and Jabba both have their points. Monster is correct about companies there not using ethical business practices because they really couldn’t give a rat’s ass. HOWEVER, he is wrong in stating that “they hate us just on the basis of who we [implying white European Westerners] are”.
If anything, Chinese people in China tend to idolize foreigners in a strange way. Many billboards for clothing ads throughout the country feature white people (not Chinese people). Jabba’s comment that “I couldn’t help but feel superior in many aspects” is directly the RESULT of such a blind adoration of the richer and more material western world. The flip side to all this is that blacks and Latinos would be looked down upon rather than idolized – it’s simply the legacy of cultural imperialism.
It's a shame, but maybe when Chinese people in China learn to respect themselves and look beyond materialism we'll start to see Chinese companies utilizing more ethical business practices. As a Chinese-American born in China and raised in the States, I can only hope that this is the direction the country is headed. -
Chinese companies are accused of unethical business practices, but they are doing the same things that American companies did during the late 1800s and early 1900s. American companies damaged the environment and had very shady and unethical business practices as much, if not worse than the Chinese are accused of today. It is easier to act holier than thou once your country's businesses already played dirty and rose to the top; then write rules about ethics and how to play fair. Ummmm....yeah right.

T60p scored a 7.1(!) on CNET and the T61p received a 7.8, it's a real testament to just how good this laptop really is. -

look at the F.E.A.R scores. The t61p outperforms the Micro Express IFL90 despite the fact that the Micro has a 8600GT, a 512 mb one in fact.

China is still 70% rural, and the massive influx of migrant workers from the agricultural areas is causing employment and other problems in the cities.
