I am buying a x220 and need some advice. I am looking to do basic computer stuff i.e. office, internet surfing....Here are my questions:

    1) What display type should I get and what is the difference between them? Here are the options:

    1. 12.5" HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband Ready, 2x2 Antenna
    2. 12.5" HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband Ready, 3x3 Antenna
    3. [add $45.00] 12.5" Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband Ready, 2x2 Antenna
    4. [add $45.00]
12.5" Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband Ready, 3x3 Antenna

    2) If I get 2GB and upgrade myself what should I look for on newegg i.e. what specs?

    3) There is an options for System expansion slots - Lenovo USB Modem for $18 extra. What is this and why would I need it?

    4) Wireless options for card - I was going to go for this one over the standard included - does that make sense? Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 (2x2 AGN)

    1) You basically are looking at two choices for screen and two choices for the antenna. The 'Premium HD' screen is the IPS screen, and worth the $45. The 2x2 antenna is the standard antenna. The 3x3 antenna adds another antenna into the lid, which allows some better noise-cancelling and higher speed connections. (If supported by the rest of the network.) However you'd need a wifi card that supports the antenna, and it rules out the webcam.

    2) DDR3 1333. Laptop format.

    3) That's a USB dongle. It's a modem. They are ancient devices that allowed computers to talk to each other over the phone system. ;) You'd need it if you are likely to find yourself someplace where you can't get Internet some other way, and have a working phone. If you don't know you'll need it, you don't.

    4) I'd pretty much recommend 'any but the default'. ;) The higher priced cards typically will try to have better noise handling and range. Special note for the 6300: It's the only one that supports the 3x3 antenna option. If you get one, get the other.

Get the Premium HD display. It's the IPS screen and is the one most important upgrade. The IPS screen is significantly better quality than any other screen this size.

    Thanks for the feedback!

What does the upgrade for the window display actually mean? i.e. how will it improve my computing experience.

Also, what warranty option would you recommend?

Colors will be better so it's not as much of an "eyesore" to look at, and the viewing angles will be much wider so that the colors don't invert when looking at the screen from an angle.
