You can get the advanced mini dock that has DVI out put and then get a DVI to HDMI cable.

It sounds like the advanced mini dock is your best bet. You can find it for about $150 new (check Amazon's alternative sellers), or less on eBay. I was fortunate, my Aquos LC-52D92U came with a DVI-I input, so I was able to connect my T61p to it with only a VGA-to-DVI adapter. It looks great up to about 1400x1050 resolution...higher resolutions start producing tiny jaggies. Don't bother trying to connect VGA directly to HDMI, though...HDMI is a digital signal. DVI-I is neat in that it can also accept an analog VGA signal.

thanks a lot forgot about the dock, however it is a little too expensive, are there any express card adapters i could buy or is that too slow to output video?

I think there are some VGA to S-video/RCA cables out there, if anybody could provide some more info on this I would appreciate it as well as op (I think).
