    Is core solo 2nd best to core duo?

    how much better is core solo than pentium M..

    Core solo is essentially a PM, just the next progression. It has less power than Core Duo, but most users don't need it, so in many cases it's preferred.

    That looks to be a great laptop for your needs, it has decent RAM and hard drive space and since it is a core solo I'm sure it gets great abttery life

    the price difference is around 150 pounds between a solo and duo. Is it worth investing in duo? My main purpose for the laptop would be doing university work, and a bit of surfing and music. but at the same time if duo is a lot faster i might consider it

    It depennds on what you are doing. Some applications like Photoshop it is significantly faster or if you are a heavy multi-tasker.

    is solo slight better or just about the same as pentium 4?

    im using pentium 4 with my desktop and its coping just fine.
