we've heard it's bad, and that it's good, and that it's 220 nits
i know almost all 14.1" widescreen LCDs are known to be bad, but i'd like an opinion specifically for the T61 (preferably for the 1440*900)
thanks

Also check to see if your screen has sparkle.
-
all lenovo comes matte not glossy right??
-
Yes, only matte.
-
I honestly don't get why anyone would want anything other than matte, I've used glossy before and never liked it.
-
From what I've read so far, the new 14.1 inch wide screens are pretty decent.
-
Mine is evenly lit with a fair amount of light leakage on bottom. Sparkles on white background. Brightness is fine for me.

Hi.I have Dell Inspiron 6400 with WSXGA+ screen and it has a "sparkling effect"...So T61 has the same issue?Because it's really annoying at night.I would like to buy T61,but screen quality(especially this problem) is important to me.Thanks,Jan.

What is the sparkling effect?
-
Not quite sure about some of your questions (not really familiar with the diffs). I can only say that it certainly depends on what angle you're using to look at it. My first impression was that it was too light and the color was off, tans look lavender. As you tilt the screen back more, the color improves and the whole thing darker. Guess this is how lcds work?
Anyway, the color is different than what I am used to and somehow I don't think it is as true. -
My T61 has no sparkle affect. It can get fairly bright as well and is comfortable use in daytime bright light.
I frankly think the colors are very good on mine when looking straight on. They are very close to my color corrected monitor on my desktop.
Like all laptop LCDs there is some fall of when looking at it from more extreme angles, but not too bad IMO from what everyone was saying about past thinkpad screens. -

brightness is good
viewing angle is so bad -
Anyone else have any comments on whether their screen has sparkle?

Screen
The screen will be a disappointment to some. It suffers from what I assume is often referred to as sparkle, shimmer, or graininess. The best way to describe it is that there seems to be a layer of dust on my screen or that I am actually using a matte screen instead of glossy. Nevertheless, many users won't be able to notice this. I was not able to properly capture this phenomena. -
14.1 lenovo screen is poor stuff, viewing angles are disaster, backlightning is not uniform, but on the other hand it is crisp enough, and you will need to put maximum brightness to be able to use it in any position without losing viewing quality.

What about the 15.4" screen?
could someone who's received the T61 comment on the LCD?
