    Hello,

I know people have been able to easily upgrade the T41p cpu to the Dothan 2.0ghz Pentium M 755 (SL7EM) but I was wondering if anyone knows if any further upgrades are possible. I assume the pentium M 765 would work, but it currently costs about double what a 755 costs (about $180 for 755 on ebay).

I was also wondering if anyone knew if there is any chance a core duo cpu would work in a T41p, or if the last bios update offered any hope for this kind of upgrade.

As for why I'm asking, I do photo editing on my T41p and I've already bumped my memory to 2 gig, so now I just need a little more cpu power. Going from 1.7ghz to 2.0 is worth $180 to me, but if I could drop a core duo cpu in there it would be even better. Thx in advance!

    Pentium M is socket 478 or 479.
Some Core Duo CPUs are socket 479, but the majority are socket M
Core 2 Duo are also socket M

As the system was also not designed for a core duo processor, AFAIK it would not work.

For a 300Mhz upgrade you may want to fool around with overclocking first, rather than dropping $180 dollars, and you may be able to get the results you desire

Not sure how to overclock a pentium M in a laptop... Any ideas? The bios doesn't have any options and the laptop never shipped from ibm with anything faster than a 1.7 with 400mhz fsb so I don't know if there is anything I can do about that either.

I'm reasonably experienced with desktop overclocking (been successfully doing it for 14 years with more than 20 computers) but I don't know anything about laptop overclocking because I didn't think it was possible.

So... How would I go about overclocking a t41p?
