    Hi,

I just received my IBM R52. I read threads about dead pixels and IBM keyboard types few days ago. However I can't find them now.

Anybody willingly to tell me how to check dead pixel and what types are good IBM keyboard? I think my keyboard type is PL 1860CTO (US/AP/LA)

    Thanks

You should be able to check your keyboard type by going to the Lenovo website and looking up the parts in your system. You can use this link for that: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/warranty/partsLookup.vm

There are three different kinds of keyboard, each from a different manufacturer. The one generally regarded as the best is the one made by NMB (Thai), and the other two are made by Alps and Chicony (both Chinese). I assume that this is the same for the R-series as it is for the T-series.

Well, virtually any desktop keyboard should be superior to laptop keyboards, since there's more key travel for the desktops. While I love my laptop's keyboard, my old desktop's is still better, though it's a cheap one.
