hi there i am definitely going to opted for the dedicated gpu if i am getting the t61, but i am concerned that with a 4cel battery i would only be able to get about 2 hrs of battery life. Is 2 hrs of battery life standard on laptops with dedicated gpus?? I have had the dell m1210 for a bit with the 7400go and it seems to had 2 hrs of battery life as well. Is there any business class notebooks out there with a powerful gpu and 3hrs+ battery life? I also dont want extended batteries =( if the ultrabay battery is good i would consider getting it. Thank you very much

You should get the extended 7 cell battery, and even go for the Ultrabay battery. That ultabray battery should stick a few cells onto it.

If you are not gaming or something similar there's no need for the dedicated GPU. There are larger and modular batteries available if you need more time.

i do need the dedicated gpu because i plan to keep the laptop for a couple of years. umm does that mean that all laptops that have dedicated gpu have crap battery life?, or the t61 just isn't that good in terms of battery life?

If you are not gaming, I don't see how a dedicated cards will help. The x3100 is more than to run XP or Vista which will be the default for quite some time. Intel GPUs are very low power. All things equal which of course they never are, an integrated card will have better battery life,
