Hey guys, I just read that post about the defective cards that have been sent out by nvidia. And it says that the 8600 gt card is affected.
However, does that also mean that my quadro fx 570m is defective as well?
it doesnt seem so so far, my comp hasnt crashed yet while playing games.
But it idles at 61 degrees celsius, which is higher than my HD and both the cores on my processor.
Is this a normal idle temperature?
Thanks for any help in calming, or elevating, my fears!

Nvidia hasnt actually released the list of affected gpu's. They are only speculating that the G84 and G86m cores are defective.
Unforunately the FX570 uses a G84 core -

As does the 140.

my T61p with the 570M is in the repair shop right now for this reason. I hope they replace my system planar because it's been overheating under load and causing my system to randomly shutdown or standby.

Mine idles at 55-60 celsius. Other reports suggest this is "normal."

Sounds like your GPU is normal. Mine idles around that temperature.
It is important to remember that as long as your GPU isn't overheating you probably aren't affected by the "defective cards". The cards still work fine as long as your temperatures are normal.

My 8400M GS idles at 52-55c.
I hope Nvidia will have an answer soon, but either way, it doesn't look good, if there is a recall, I believe the entire motherboard will have to change even though mine is a discrete one. -
There is nothing wrong with your GPU stewie. Your temperatures are fine. As long as you don't overheat you won't need your graphic card replaced. The cards are still fine as long as they don't overheat.
Even if they say my FX570m is included in the recall I am not going to get it replaced since I have been able to play games fine (including CoD4) without any heating issues.

For the temp, I know they're fine if you compared to all the Nvidia G84 chips, but now since they're saying all the G84 chips are defective, so maybe these temp shouldn't be at this level, and I was just hoping the that temp would drop to the 40s if ever there is a fix. -
wow temperature idling at 40's woudl b relaly nice!
thanks for all the helpful comments guys.
i can now game on without too much fear!
