Basically just the graphics card, screen, and some new USB type of thing. I forgot what exactly it was.

The 'p' is Lenovo's designation for "Mobile workstation". So you get a beefier professional-type of graphics card (Quadro instead of GeForce or Intel IGP), higher res screen, and some other stuff. Why "p"? I dunno. Maybe "premium"?

The P is a Vaporware machine that you can not get.

Mine was ordered more than a month ago and it's still got another Month before it's new estimated shipping date will be missed.

Don't waste your time on a P model, you can't get them.

Not at all. Imagine how much money I'm going to make when I flip the POS on ebay when it does finally arrive. It ought to be a collectors item by then.

T61p has a Quadro FX 570M (8600M GT) video card and a WUXGA screen. There is also a 14.1" with SXGA+.

"P" versions are professional mobile workstations and they are ISV-certified.

Regular T61 models have weaker video cards (NVS 140M (8400M GS) / X3100) and no option for WUXGA screen.

    Period.

Why is it a POS if it's delayed?

I think you've mistaken the T61p for your Sony.

You're talking about the biggest differences : the screen and the GPU.

Quadro FX570m is way different from the 140m

but it's possible to configure a t61 with the 570m and the screen from the t61p...but i just chose a not so high resolution screen as i don't need something that high for a 15.4" laptop.

I was going for the P model until I realised there was no WSXGA+ option and the WUXGA would be absolutely waste in my case since I would hardly be able to see any text at that size screen. Maybe after I do the LASIK treatment! ;) Has anyone on these forums been able to install a 570m inside the T61?

T61p is really nice. well i have a T61 the difference is really not that much. it is just 2 options. a very good graphics card and screen size. in the T61 you dont have the option on picking you screen size it is always going to be 15.4

That's not true. The T61 is currently available w/14.1" and 15.4" screens.

Your statement even contradicts your signature. Your sig says you have a 14" WUXGA T61.

Lol, if he does have a 14" WUXGA screen, then he is probably coming from Mars... since I heard the 14" WUXGA screens are widely popular in there...
