i have an IBM a22m and i formatted by hard disk as an enclosure and then tried to do a fresh install of XP. but now when i try to install XP from my CD, i keep getting this error

    A disk read error occurred
    Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

I have tried reformating with NTFS, chaging boot settings but nothing seems to help.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Disk read error usually means a problem with the hard drive. Can you run chkdsk?

    Hi taklu,
    1. i'd try to download live CD of Gparted here: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
    2. boot with the cd, it is based on linux, but it doesn't matter, it has nice GUI. Gparted is program for patitioning hard drives easy way.
    3. if after the boot, the gparted doesn't see any HDD, then you've got some HW trouble ...
