    docking station for the first time

    ive never used a docking station in my life
    and i am now using ultrabase 3 and x220

    are there any ideal settings i should have?
    when i close the lid on my laptop the monitor turns off :p

    There's not much of an "ideal" setting for the laptop itself; perhaps have it on max power since you're connected to AC anyway?

    For accessories, get whatever you need (for example, the two monitors you mentioned). Maybe hook up a wired printer to the Ethernet port on the dock (if it has one) and an external HDD for backup/extra storage?
