If there is an upgrade option that logic will have it, should cost a little bit more but the order website says $0 extra by the time you order. Does lenovo (canada) normally honor these kinda things or not?

Depends. I've seen it go both ways. Best you can do is wait it out.

Yep. My T500's P8700 CPU was a $0 upgrade over the P8600, a pricing mistake that was later corrected to $50. Lenovo, however, honored this error. Similarly, some forum members managed to order the X120e with no OS, a -$117 downgrade that Lenovo mistakenly offered for a little while (and later said it will allegedly honor).

It depends if they still can manage your order under the cost.
    Usually do, like the x120
They wont lose money si they should ship them.

But like two years ago, there was huge price mistakes, they cancelled all orders

small error is usually honoured, if there is a large error then they may pull the price deal.

I think my SU2300 was about a -$850 downgrade when I ordered my x200s. Later it changed to -$150 and they still honored my order.

edit: this was on their Lenovo Direct site

Part of my x120e order shipped. Looks like they are honoring...and this was a bigger mistake than normal as I ordered using the Acrobat X mistake.

My build even shows Acrobat X Std being added...

I think that generally they do, but there is always the unexpected factor of the people you are dealing with at the moment (both the immediate person you are contacting and their higher ups).

A couple years back one person told me that when they purchased a machine via the web they were afterwards informed of a pricing error and that their card would be charged accordingly. The first person he called was not very helpful nor (apparently) was his manager. So he said thank you and called again, and the person he got this time was more sympathetic and arranged to have the initial deal honored (allowed to go through by his supervisor) and everything was fine and dandy.

I got in on the Adobe X mistake as well, but my order is "In Process," showing an estimated ship date of 03/08/11. Are you sure yours shipped?

hehe well he said 'part' of the order. Maybe he ordered a spare battery or something and it shipped but it will suck if the x120e can't ship afterwards though.

I don't see why they can't ship though since they've already patched that loophole, unless they are tied down by a contractual agreement with microsoft.

I ordered the x100e sleeve to go along with it. That part has shipped...I suspect I haven't hit the 'true test' yet - we'll see!

Oddly, they charged me for the cost of the sleeve, and shipping and tax on the entire order coming to around $65 - so I'm inclined to believe this might just go through afterall.

Just FYI, I had a 3/8 ship date also. I wonder if they are going to get these all out a few days early?

I wouldnt be so sure on that fact alone. Those are independent orders. I dont think the order system implements any kind of logic/analysis into their decision to deliver something or not. i.e. obviously it may not make sense to ship your sleeve if they wont ship the notebook, but they still do. If you ordered, and if it can be shipped out, it will.

So I'd say you can only tell once they actually do ship the x120e. Again I dont see any reason why they wont except for some kind of contract with Microsoft or something, since the loophole is patched and the 'problem' is now well contained.

Doesnt mean they wont ship your x120e sleeve because your x120e hasnt shipped out yet. I dont think they'd care that you were to order something random like an R400 battery to go with the x120e order, I think they will still ship it out if they could fulfill the order.

Yep - actually, you may have to work it out with them if the laptop ends up not clearing. Thanks for the further info, though. With some luck, Lenovo will honor this loophole ;)

Hahaha 1 more dollar and that's a brand spankin' new Kia Rio. That Express Card reader better cook my dinner and wash my clothes for that much.

I think Lenovo fixed the no OS option on the x120e, I was interested in one for like 280 lol.

Yep, they fixed that within a day, I believe, although a fair number of people already got their orders in. The X120e allows for a minimum price of $300, though, since the website throws a "N/A" order if the pre-tax price falls below that amount.

Check out this article I had found a while back.

"If you buy a computer, you often pay for Microsoft Windows even if you didn't ask for it and aren't going to use it. This article shows you how to return your unused Windows license and get your money back, freeing yourself from the Windows tax..."

The refund is up to the OEM though. The license agreement specifically excludes OEMs from having to give a full refund.

Not that it isn't worth a shot - a few have made it happen already. Just that YMMV.

It's worth noting that the Windows EULA has changed since XP in a way that specifically addresses this.
