    drivers for T61 ( windows 2003)

    I have T61 with Vista Home Basic.... i want to downgrade it to Xp or 2003 i have few questions

    1) actually My frnd also has T61 and he ordered Xp recovery CD from Lenovo site

    a) can i use that recovery CD to install Xp on my machine .
    (Does all Recovery Cd's have the same product Id )

    2) If i install windows 2003( for Office work) .. where do i download drivers from
    a) does Xp drivers work for windows 2003 ( Enterprise Edition)

    Yes the recover CD will work.
    If you ever want Vista back, reset you system to the factory install and run the rescue and recover software to make a backup to CD. then you have one of your system.
    Then run the XP recovery CD's.
    As for 2003. Yes everything should work fine, use the XP drivers.
    I think the only thing that was not working correctly was the fingerprint scanner. That might have been changed now though not sure.

    some xp drivers work on 2003 but not all

    So i can get the Xp updates as well from the recovery CD..Humm that sounds gr8..

    i have made the recovery DVD's of Vista ( and moreover i am not deleting the 6GB partition)

    on a sidenote: make sure you have a valid license for Windows 2003. Only Vista Business and Ultimate allows you to downgrade to XP Professional.

    downgrading i would be completely Formatting my HDD , first i would like to check out with the recovery CD if it works ( if works then i would not go for windows 2003 , if it doesn't then i have to look for windows 2003)

    windows 2003 (Enterprise Edition) my office is providing it ;so licensing won't be an issue ( coz they have VLK's)
