    Hiya

I'm planning to order a R61 and a T61 or T61p - one with a dvd rw drive and the other with the bluray drive. I was wondering if the bluray drive in the r61 can be changed to go into the T61/T61p? Are drives interchangable or are they specific to the model?

    Thankyou

Should be interchangeable, even the plastic faceplate should be swappable. They appear to be the same width...

This is incorrect. They are interchangeable in one way only.

The R61 holds bigger UltraBay devices while the T61 has the slim version of that. The R61 can hold the T61's but not vice versa. And there is no Blu-Ray for the T61 yet.

FWW the UltraBay Slim in T6x ThinkPads is like 1/8" less tall than the UltraBay in R6x ThinkPads. So IOW the real issue between the two types of UltraBays is the height--not the width--of the bays.
