I just wanted to give us X20x folks a heads up if you're needing a new battery. I just found these new genuine 9-cells on eBay for $60 shipped within the US:
Genuine Lenovo 43R9255 9-Cell Battery for ThinkPad X200 - eBay (item 390241176891 end time Dec-16-10 15:11:19 PST)
I just ordered one since my original 6-cell(at exactly 200 cycles) is holding about three hours of its original charge. I need more unplugged runtime, so this was a great find that I hope helps someone here!![]()
Disclaimer: This is not my auction.

How much does the 9 cell stick out of the back? I went with the 4cell just cause I wanted the smallest battery I could get but it only last for about 3 hrs.
-
It's about an inch or so. In addition to providing much more battery life, the battery does make an excellent handle for carrying around the machine.
$63 seems like a good deal. About the only way you'd do better is with an auction. I bought the eight-cell battery for my X200t from NPS. It looked new and had zero cycles. -
I just bought one. Amazing price; the best deal I've been able to find is $100 (EDIT: before tax) at the outlet.
Thanks a lot LegendaryKA8! -
Just ordered one too. Thank you! Good Christmas present
PS: As long it works... -
I'll get back to everyone once I receive mine. Considering it's coming from SLC I should have it within a couple of days or so.
-
what is SLC?
-
Salt Lake, City, Utah. It's around 600 mi(or 950km) from where I live, so shipping will be relatively fast.
-
Yeah please reply back to this thread once you get it

Well I bought 2 for some reason...I just got my X201 delivered today. I may want to trade one if they are any good for a 6-Cell.

Sold out. Looks like someone bought 34 of them and are probably planning on selling them back on eBay at a higher price.
-

I would call that person an A-hole
Sersiously, I despise such people who buy off entire stock from retailer and not from warehouse/whole seller and then sell it for higher prices. Id call this capitalism at its worst. -
-
To play the Devil's advocate here, it could also be a corporation who has issued out a good number of X200's a while ago and is now needing batteries to replace them.
That said, the thought of another reseller purchasing a large quantity of these batteries to start shilling out at a much higher price is quite frustrating. I posted this link to help out other ThinkPadders with a good deal, not to have it blown by someone who could quite possibly be labeled as an opportunist. -

Probably "More than 10 available"
When you click on items sold button you get to see how many were bought by how many users. -
I see. Thanks.

Alright, the battery came in today.

It's a brand new(not NOS) Lenovo battery in original packaging. No defects, cosmetic or otherwise. This battery is as fresh out of the package as it would be if you ordered it brand new directly from Lenovo.
Those of you that jumped on this will be very happy. To say I'm highly pleased would be an understatement. It's significantly harder to pack it into my bag now but that's a minor complaint for the added battery life versus my aging 6-cell. -
Good to hear that it's not fake or anything lol You ended up with a nice deal!
Your laptop/new battery is noticeably heavier huh? I was amazed at how heavy the 9-cell was compared to my X200 alone without the battery.
Does it have a bit of a wobble when attached to the laptop?
And what kind of singe battery charge life do you get on a full charge with your regular setting? I seem to get anywhere from low to high seven hours. -
Just got my 9-cell today. 0% wear according to battery bar. Came sealed with all lenovo packaging, and fully discharged.
There is a slight wobble, just like my 6-cell. The weight increase is certainly noticeable, but not terribly dramatic; it mostly just makes the laptop feel more grounded and solid seeming in my opinion. On the plus side, witih the 9-cell my X201 fits perfectly in the 12.1" zeroshock III case I ordered for it. The case was a bit oversized before, but not anymore.
Great deal indeed. -
I can't really comment on battery life as I haven't had the occasion to use it away from an outlet yet. From what I've seen I expect between 7-8 hours from mine which is more than adequate for what I'm going to be using my X200 for.
There is a little bit of battery wiggle but not too much. It feels very solid overall and I really couldn't be happier with it. There is a fair bit of added weight over the 6-cell, but for the added life I'm more than willing to live with it. -
Can anyone comment on the actual (real-world) battery life difference as with respect to 6-cell?
-
Is this the same battery? Can't figure out what is wrong with this auction but there has to be something! Fake maybe?
9CELL Battery for Lenovo IBM ThinkPad X200 43R9255 7.8A - eBay (item 220678883253 end time Jan-03-11 04:38:23 PST) -
What they'll try to sell is a "replacement battery" or "compatible battery". The other one was supposed to be made by Lenovo, this one could be made by some 3rd party supplier.
-
To answer the battery life question, the new 9-cell is giving me numbers of about seven and a half hours. My sister's X200(nearly identical config to mine) has a new 6-cell and she was getting around five to five and a half hours. These are both estimates using Power Manager, as I haven't used my X200 out in the wild yet and I don't use my sister's at all.

Thanks! 5-5.5 is what I am getting too doing some light work. ~50% increase is pretty sweet! I wish I ordered this battery now. I didn't know it usually costs 2x more.
eBay find for X20x users...
