Just found out that the capability is disabled in thinkpads, is there a workaround?

idid see that option, but i can't help feeling that there is probably a way to reactivate it by simply by editing an inf file, i just don't have the expertise to figure out the exact code to change. I've found several infs that reference the steromix feature, but none that obviously have a simple 'enable' function.

    CHDRT.inf is one.

this thread Re: How get Stereo Mix on Conexant sound card SOLU... - Toshiba Forums has a few suggestions but one seems to work at the cost of disabling the internal mic, which i'd rather not do, and another appparently effective fix notes changing a specific portion of the code which i can't see in the lenovo inf files that reference the stereomix in this T420
