Does anyone know if and when Lenovo might upgrade the following on the Z60t?:
    • Screen resolution; currently it's only WXGA (can a 14" widescreen be SXGA?).
    • Give us an option for a separate video card? Currently it's integrated.
    • Change the DVD burner to dual layer?

    Thanks.

I've heard several sources say that the graphics won't be upgraded because they want to use the same case for dual core processors when they come out, not sure what they mean by that as several other 14" widescreen notebooks can come with dedicated GPUs.

Might be that the dual cores need a larger heatsink, and the one designed for the laptop can't handle dual core +GPU, so they are going with just the dual core.

You can hope that Lenovo will think about using this AUO 14" WXGA+ (1440 x 900) panel as an option.

It can't be SXGA. If you can find a Panasonic UJ-832s, it is dual layer and will fit, but is not offered by IBM.

Who the hell needs a DL anyways? Almost all DL discs are not even cost effective yet, and the only thing I could ever see a need for is if you have a file over 4.5 gigs.

Are they supposed to be good? The only thing I can tell from the specs is nice contrast ratio, but poor colour representation. The TN-matrix panel they're using is only capable of max 262K colours (vs 16,777,216).

There are many DVD movies that are over 4.7 gigs and people may want to use DL discs to archive them. You could always trim them down by lowering the quality or removing some languages or subtitles to make em fit on a standard disc, but some people don't like that.

I'm not sure there is a single laptop out there using a panel that is capable of 16.7M colors representation.
