can you guys educaate me a little in resolution and aspect ratios and such?

im thinking of getting an external for my t60p, i do a lot of CAD and modeling work so i think i may want some extra real estate. dell right now has a great price on a 20.1" widscreen...but im wondering what happens when you hook up a non widescreen 1600x1200 to a widescree 1680x1050.

or could someone recommend a great 19" or 20" LCD that's under $400?

    thanks!

I've only done this with R52s but the external resolution is independent of the LCD resolution unless you try to "clone" the screen. If you set it up as a 2nd monitor (rather than clone) then in the windows display settings, you should see 2 screens in the box thingy (thingy is a technical term), if you select the 2nd screen you should be given a full set of options for changing the resolution size - as long as the built in video card supports it it will work.

that was a long and rambling explanation, sorry, trying to do that from memory is not so great, but the short answer is yes it should work and no there shouldnt be any problems - I think ;)

The screen you plug in will detect at its resolution, and should be in the same aspect ratio that the screen is designed for.
