    Hey,

Well, I was trying to clean up this old lenovo t71 to give to my mom, but my fingerprint was rigged to the login. So I erased my fingerprint profile, changed the password, and thought I was good to go.

Soon as it was restarted it asked for a fingerprint at login. Well mine sure doesn't work now, so I'm not sure what to do about it.

    advice?

Did you just erase the enrolled fingerprint or did you disable the options for biometric devices and logging on with a fingerprint etc?

Are you using just windows to manage the fpr or the thinkvantage utility?

Is it asking for your fingerprint at windows logon, or power on?

You should be able to hit "ESC" and then just enter your windows password as normal without the need of biometric authentication.

    It's a T60 actually.. if that matters.

I think I just deleted the enrolled fingerprint.. I figured if theres no fingerprint enrolled in the system, why would it ask me for one to login.

It's asking for the fingerprint after it tries to login to windows xp. And I'm using the thinkvantage software. Oh and escape does nothing.

Ok, I got into windows in safe mode, and I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of this thing. There is no option in the fingerprint software settings to disable it. That's why I had just deleted the fingerprint. I was just about to delete the whole program, but it just so happens that's the only one on the whole list I can't remove.

    thanks for trying to help

if you erase fingerprint profile, I think you can use only your password that you have just changed instead of fingerprint login. I think we can switch user when windows login page appear. :)

what if you try removing the password from the account?

In the ThinkVantage utility, under settings/authentication/windows authentication do you have a setting for "use fingerprint scan instead of of password when logging into Windows" and "Require fingerprint logon for non-Administrator users"?

Also, have you tried disabling the reader in the bios?
