    I bought a battery for my X60s.

I put it in and plug the AC on. it's been a while and the LED is blinking (yellow), but the power manager still shows 0% after a while. it says, the battery was complete discharged and needs to be recharged. this may take 10 or more hours.

    is this normal?

I have seen this once on a T43 and on Lenovo 3000 series, both Panasonic and Sony cells.

We had to replace the batteries.

    Sounds like a faulty battery.

A new Li-Ion battery should never come fully discharged. [Was this a used battery?]

    not yet.

I have it plugged in for 10 hours. The thing started charging but stopped at 98% then dropped to 97%...

    I bought it new.

Like I said, a new Li-Ion battery really should never show a 0% charge. Theres a good chance its capacity may have been slightly damaged.
