If the problem to be fixed has nothing to do with the HD, will it be OK to pull out the HD before sending the laptop to the depot? Has anyone done so but was asked to send in the HD afterwards?

Unless they ask for it, don't send it in. I did that with my x100e a few times and there were no problems.

Thanks. ThreeFitty, what kind of problems did your x100e have?

Simply put it was a lemon and it loved to eat motherboards for some reason.

When you get your laptop back, check to make sure the right components are in the laptop. They sent my laptop back with the wrong CPU once.

Never send anything to EasyServ that isn't part of the problem.

Unless specifically asked for, you generally do not need to send the HDD, power adapter, and battery: the repair depot has spares.

I never send the HDD, or if I do, I put in a blank one that's never been used. If the problem is software related, I'm not sending it in, I'm fixing it myself.
