Just a quick(hopefully) question. Formatting a(few possibly) T60 to install a fresh XP copy without all of IBMs software but XP does not recognize a HD. I'm guessing because these have SATA drives? How do you install drivers without a driver floppy so XP sees the drive? Is there a Bios setting or something?

Removing the stuff you don't want seems like a better option.

You need to change the HD setting in the BIOS to compatibility mode I believe.

Ok I figured it was something like that, I'll take a look today. Thanks.
I would very much prefer not to remove them. I'm looking to get one clean fresh install without all the lenovo crap then ghosting the drive for a few others as well. -
I am looking to do the same, but there seems to be issues with missing drivers

I wonder if I should just do the "upgrade install" rather than the complete fresh format and install... -
I'm doing a format/reinstall right now, I'll let you know how it goes. HD in compatability mode pics it up perfectly for the install.

you just need that SATA drivers, make a CD and Press F8 during install to insert the disc or slipstream them into an XP CD.

all is well. Doing windows updates now. I'm missing a few drivers tha tI'm not sure what they are. One PCI Device and 2 Unknown Devices. I'll figure them out later. Only one Thinkvantage program for the fingerprint scanner otherwise its "Think free" finally.
