I have a T500 (running on XP) with HITACHI HTS542516K9SA00 (160 gb 5400 rpm). The drive is noisy, its not clicking but constant hissing (given that otherwise the ntb is really silent, it greatly annoys me.). I wanted to run ftools (Hitachi's feature tool) 2.11. When I try to boot from ftools cd, it starts ok, but stops on 'Hitachi feature tool loading...' just a blinking cursor appears in the next row and cd stops spinning.

What can I do to make it work?

I burned the image twice already, that didn't make a difference. Can there be possibly a problem with the tool I burn it with? (I use Roxio creator business edition - came with the ntb). Update, thrice, last time using current version of ImgBurn, with the same result.

I tried also the lenovo tp hdd firmware update cd, but that one just starts booting and then stops. Is there something wrong with booting from CDs in general? I was able to boot from recovery CD when downgrading to XP.
