are we likely to see further price drop for thinkpads this summer?
would lenovo roll out the refresh as soon as they receive the chips in mid july? or more like late august/september? based on previous trends...![]()
p.s. i'm not buying the next series, I just want to buy the current ones at the cheapest sale price..

I'd think that they will go any lower in price. The thinkpads are seriously cheap now, and I imagine they are trying to blow out the stock of old laptops before the new series arrives. They won't sell everything, obviously - you can still buy T and X 60 series through the lenovo outlet, but the price difference between a X60 and a X61 isn't that great ($950 vs $1170), with the X61 with better hardware specs.
Besides all they've done for the past month is keep the same discount in place, through the 25% discount and renewing the ecoupons. If they were to make it cheaper, it would have changed at least a little as the date for the new series approaches (some people say in 10 days it will show on the website, others in 2 months so the predictions are not accurate at all).
EDIT:
I just remembered reading about a price matching within 20 or so days of the purchase, but can't remember the details. Maybe someone who knows about this can fill in the blanks (if it exists, that is). -
Probably at the end of July you can order the new models.
But for now, the deals are incredible, I'm having a hard time holding my breath. -
they're having some real good deals now. If I were you it will be now or never haha =D
-
Well, to me, if the deals are good enough, I'd go for it. It's not as if it's a drop from 10% off to 50% or something.

I saved $661 on on my T61, $1991 laptop for $1300. I's not getting much better than this probably. It might but not by too much so if you don't care too much about the new models buy now.
good time to buy thinkpad?
