    Hey guys,

I had problems with my first t61 so sent back and got another one. I want to do this one right. by that i mean i want to do everything I should do right from the start. what would you guys suggest me do?

do i need to make recovery discs first? or should i just go right ahead and reinstall vista? also, would you guys suggest me consider downgrading to xp? ms has this thing where they will give you a serial for xp if you have vista business, which i do. the problem is i don't have the xp discs...can that be worked around?

also, how is xp on the t61? does it work out just fine and even faster /less crashes than vista?

thanks alot guys! this baby's gotta last me for years. so i want to do things right from the start.

Can you send me the link or phone number to due such a thing that MS will give me CD keys for XP because I might do the same thing. Will they do it for professional or just home and does it have to be Vista Business or Vista Ultimate?

Vista doesn't yet support many CAD programs, so XP Pro was the only choice for me. I'll probably move to Vista next year.

Can you not use your Vista CD Key then if you want to revert back to Vista?

don't get the Robson Turbo Memory if you run XP. Only Vista is supposed to take advantage of that.

I wouldnt reinstall the OS, but i would definitely get rid of the bloatware that they preload on there, luckily IBM doesnt pack much.

IBM didn't pack any;... lenovo now however packs a bunch.
Moreover, it appears to contribute to system instability.

Funny how you got your SECOND T61 while there are many of us waiting out there to get our first. What were they doing around with the extra laptop before you called tech support? Hell, it should've came to me.
