Yesterday I disassembled my T60 and when I put out the fan assembly I was surprised that on the gpu and the chipset there was not thermal grease like on the cpu. When I put it back together the cpu temperatures are lower (probably because I put better thermal grease on it). I wanted to do the same with the gpu but I didn't know if I could remove the thing from the heatsink. It seemed too thick to be replaced with thermal grease. Now my gpu is hotter than before - 78 degrees idle , 94 in games (measured with tpfancontrol). I would like to know if I can put my thermal grease on the gpu instead of the thing lenovo put there. Thank you for any advice. [IMG]

Just so you know, TPFC underestimates GPU temperatures. Your temps are actually 5 - 10C higher.

    EEEK!

About the thermal grease, did you use a silver based product? Perhaps there is something in an official service manual on whether or not to apply what where.

I am pretty sure that disassembling your notebook like that would void it's warranty...

    Yes, I used arctic silver
I don't think so.. why would Lenovo sell user serviceable parts then?
