i want to get this but im worried that a lot of u guys are saying that the monitor really sucks.....im using this for law school.....mainly typing on word, using internet, watching movies, chatting.....

i wanted something light, and threefore was leaning to the d630, which is lighter than the t61, but is the t61 configured as it is here too heavy to take to school?

good deal? its cheaper then d630......comes out to about 900 shipped (tax and free shipping)

    thanks

That is a REALLY good deal for a T61. It should be more than enough for the above mentioned needs.

Yeah, that's a good deal. If I were you I'd get the 7-cell battery while you're at it, and later get a cheap RAM upgrade (an extra 1G stick is only about $25 these days...you can pop it in yourself.)

I don't have the WXGA monitor, but even my WXGA+ is quite good. Anyone with WXGA care to comment?

I don't think the weight will be all that different between the two. The Dell would be a good choice as well if you decide to go that route, but I'm sure most people here will tell you get the Thinkpad.

Consider upgrading to the T7300 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo CPU. You get double the cache memory.

you should look at the R61's they are only marginally heavier and you can equip one much better than that for >300 less
