I just noticed a small, light grey spot on the display of my 15-inch nVidia t61. it isn't a dead pixel, because it definitely is more than one plxel and i know what a dead pixel looks like. it is about 2-3x the size of a period in 12-point font. it could easily be mistaken for a spot of dirt or some other stain, but it's invisible with the monitor off. it seems to only be noticable when that part of the display is showing a bright color, in which case it appears as a lightish grey spot.

any ideas on what this might be? is it fixable?

I have the same problem. I have 2 of these, one appears to be a 0.5cm long stain while the other is almost the size of a pixel (slightly bigger but doesn't look like a dead pixel). I've tried cleaning the spots using microfiber cloth and water but they can't be removed. The color is light grey, and is more noticeable on white backgrounds.
