As some of you may or may not know I recently dropped my macbook pro and its all bent out of shape...so I have decided to sell this unit.
I just put in an order for a T60p widescreen, and cant wait until I get it. I was originally going to wait for Santa Rosa, but found out Im going to Italy on april 29th, and I really need a reliable laptop for the trip. So there you have it, new owner of a T60p WS!!!!
Its wierd...I cant seem to "settle down" with a laptop. Since last august, Ive had an LG T1, TOshiba A100, Macbook Pro, now the T60. Im hoping I can settle down with the T60 and get at least 4 years of use out of it. I put my laptops under a large workload most of the time so the THinkpad's name will be put to the test.

I say, don't order it with a ABGN card and risk having to wait forever for it to ship, and is my situation. Ordered 3/24, and not scheduled to ship out till 4/19...
-
its only got the 3945abg card...mini PCIe...what ever that means.
-
You sound like a man who can use some laptop insurance.
-
Isn't Lenovo known to ship out their laptops 1-2 months after the order is placed? I hope you can receive it in time.
-
No, I received my T60 with 14.1" screen in 5 days after I placed my order.
I think it has to do with the availability of the parts.
Mine wasn't purchased through EPP sales but when I looked at the EPP catalog back in December, they had about 30 of the T60's with the 14.1" screen and only a handful of the 15" ones.
That seems to explain how mine got shipped so fast. -
mine too
i ordered my t60 ws 4/5 and got it 4/10..
you have hope! -
actually i dont have hope. i just gave them a call and apparently there are 42 people ahead of me who put in orders for this model. they said 25 are on the way for monday, and another 100 are on backorder. 2-3 weeks is my timeframe. this model is the most sought after model according the guy.
im just wondering if i should buy it from a place called direct dial? has anybody used it before? they have the same model except for a X1400, and a slightly slower but bigger hard drive. they have plenty of those in stock. i just dont trust them. -
I haven't heard of Direct Dial before, but it seems from browsing this forum and others that Euclid Computers and Buy.com are both very reliable sources to buy ThinkPads from.
-
Ok, after further reasoning and thinking, I have decided not to get the T60. Mainly because I dont want to wait 3 weeks, and Im leaving for Italy on the 29th. So I cancelled and ordered another MBP, same model. Its a real shame, I really wanted to own a thinkpad but I need a computer for my trip, oh well.

Money must not be an issue for you.
If you want it that fast, why not go to Circuit City or Best Buy and get one there?
Maybe it's just me but MBP is really not worth the extra $400+. -
Money is an issue for me, but I received a $10000 scholarship at the end of high school from my university. So every year of my undergrad I get $2500 as long as I keep my average above 85%, which Ive done.
If I buy it online I can use my education discount. -
I'm not trying to be blunt or anything but... Why not save that money up for better things, like financing for a car?
I received a scholarship/grants from school too but that only covers for half of the full amount. The rest are loans, which is going to take several years to pay off.
For education discount on Apple store, isn't that only 100 bucks off or is there something different? -
I just bought an 07 nissan xterra a month ago lol. i understand you reasoning and i appreciate that. i have a job that ive had for mroe than 10 years, which helped me alot with the car. im only using 2500 of it, the rest will be used for tuition.

Did you check any retailers that actively carry prebuilt ThinkPads in stock? I went with CDW.ca on my T60 and had it in less than 7 days, weekend included.
I say this because since you went MBP, I can't really see you going balls-out on a custom build. Unless I'm mistaken.. -
i dont understand..."balls out?"
-
Fully optioned. Top of the line. Fully spec'ed. Ect.
guess whaaaat...
