    I would like to take notes using a hadwriting input panel for my laptop.

    1. How efficient is it, you think?
    2. Any suggestions?

    Without an Active Digitizer I don't think you'll have a good experience with handwriting....

    You could add a Wacom Cintiq to your T420 or look at a TabletPC (such as the X220T or X230T).

    It should work, I've had mixed results with these USB Off Brand tablets in the pass...

    I use to use these types in the classroom and switched to the Cintiq type as they provided better writing experience...
