when i boot my new t61 it seems like it take aboout 1 min for windows vista to open then after that the hard druve keeps runnung for a few mins trting to load programs, is this nornaml??
also i I have HDD meter on my sidebar even though i deleted some programs on add/delete in the control panel i cant seem to bring it back up after that..normal?

I can confirm the same happens on my new T61 running Vista Business. The HD activity light blinks and/or stays solid green for a good minute after I've logged in. I haven't figured out why it's doing that but I'll worry about that after I've done a clean install of either Vista Business or XP.
-
mine i would say will keep blinking for a good 2 mins at least after windows would open up, but it does calm down after that
-
It's most likely one of the million background processes Vista has like SuperFetch, I suppose for optimizing performance once the computer is up.
-
is this vista related? not lenovo?
-
Vista related, some programs are opened up on a delayed start.
-
It's both.
Lenovo is activating lots of bloatware during boot/logon. What you are reporting is very normal. -
thanks, maybe ill try a clean install... cause even with 3 gb of ram during normal internet browsing im using 40-45% of it
-
Yup, you can also disable the pre-fetch or file indexing to stop the hard drive thrashing
-
I would say that's normal. Vista will free up RAM as needed; a clean install probably won't help much. All it's doing is using available RAM efficiently, and it does improve system performance.
Try running a memory hogging game or program and look at your RAM usage during and afterwards and you'll see what I mean.
hardrive runs for a kong time on start up..
