So far I got three this past two weeks ever since my T400 arrived. Once for playing CoD4 and twice juts randomly while I was surfing the web. BSOD says its a hardware failure, then it dumps memory and restarts.

I don't like this one bit.

you shouldnt be getting blue screens on a new computer (obviously). i'd be on the phone with lenovo immediately, they have always been quick to solve the problems ive had, especially hardware problems.

It sound like a memory problem to me. I've experienced something similar where for no apparent reason I'd get the BSOD and reboot. You can try running some sort of memtest if you can find something out or Prime95 overnight and see if that causes a BSOD.

If you have 2 DIMMS you can try using on 1 DIMM at a time to test out your system to see if its stable. If thats not possible you might need to send your system back to lenovo for testing. (If you're willing to, you can also try buying some DDR3 SODIMMS somewhere, www.crucial.com seems to have some.)

I don't want to risk messing around with memory so I think I'll give them a call and see whats up. I'm almost certain its a driver problem of some sort but there is no information out there on whats needing updates or anything like that. **** though, I need a laptop for college and who knows how long this might take.

Umm, does anybody know how to get into Bios on this thing? I remember somebody writing that they had the same problem and when they set the graphics card to only one instead of switchable in bios, it might be fixed. I would want to try that and if its true , I guess hold out 'till an update or time when I do have the ability to send it back.

I'd try running memtest. It could be the memory or processor that's causing the error (sometimes when it boots back in to windows it will take you to a MS site suggesting which it thinks is the culprit).

On my T43p I would occasionally get blue screens when I was monkeying around with processor voltage control in notebook hardware controller. That was simply due to undervolting however and bumping the volts up a tick on a few settings (which I had suspected were too low to begin with) resolved that entirely. If you haven't been tinkering under the hood like that then any such CPU or memory related problems are hardware issues that should be resolved by a replacement from Lenovo.

If you want to get in to the BIOS to check the switchable graphics press the blue ThinkVantage button on boot and then press F1 to get in to the bios setup. Display options are within the first menu.

Zero issues here. I’ve beaten on the laptop—and it just bounces back, quietly.
