hdd rubber rails and ssd spacers for w530

For my w530, I am getting a 9,5mm high hdd, to replace the 7mm high hdd the notebook came with.

Do I need different rubber rails now

Also, the w530 hardware maintenance manual, says rubber rails for hdd, but spacers for ssd. What's the difference between the two?

 

Hello clone768, I bought a second hand W530 three days ago and I happened to bump into the same problem as yours. Mine came with the stock 256GB 7mm Samsung SSD with the plastic spacers on it. I think those spacers are really intended for SSDs because it doesn't need any form of shock absorption unlike HDDs.

I'm planning to buy that soon as I'm planning to fit an old 9.5mm Seagate HDD on the primary disk slot of my W530.

 

Thanks a lot, and sorry for my delayed reply. Have in mind that you can also use some rubber material and make your own, which is what i did with an hdd in the ultrabay.

 

Oh it seems like you McGuyvered it On my case I'll be buying the ones on Ebay as I lack the metal caddy that's needed for HDD drives in the primary HDD bay. As long as you'll not be using it on the go rugged style, I think a DIY approach would work.
