I have a caddy for the t420, but I don't want my hdd to be on all the time, how can I disable and enable the hdd whenever I want?

I don't want it just to go to sleep if inactive, I want it to be disabled and hidden. Is there a way?

If you use it that infrequently, why have it in the machine? You can pop it in when needed. I know it's convenient.

With Lenovo Power Manager, you can set the drive to turn off in as little as 30 seconds. From what I can tell this has no impact on SSD performance so if that is what you are using in the mSATA slot or primary drive bay, set it and don't worry.

I don't want to carry an external drive, that why I have it in but not on all the time. :D
