hey guys,
I just got my x60s a month ago, and everything works fine except my adaptor, which gets extremely hot (to the extent that I can't hold it with my hands). Additionally, it has this weird hissing sound. Is this normal?? anyone?
btw, it's 65W 20V AC adaptor that came with the laptop
thanks!

I'm more worried about that hissing sound, better to stop using it and call Lenovo about it. Since it poses a fire hazard they will most likely RMA it and send you a new one.

The hissing sound depending on how loud it is can be normal if the power coming in is not that clean. I have noticed this depending different places I plug my adapters in. Regarding the heat, if it is charging the battery AND powering the unit, it will get pretty hot. Just make sure it has plenty of airflow, and dont have the adapter under a pile of clothes

Yes, don't worry Luminous. As Kevin said, it is normal for the adapter to generate a lot of heat when having to supply a lot power. I have the 65W adapter as well for my X61 and it gets very hot as well when stressed. Nothing to get gray hair about though.

It is normal for the adaptor to get hot but you should be worry about the hissing sound. -
My X60s is emitting hissing (or buzzing) sounds that gets really loud (scare me). I had the notebook for about a year and half. If anybody can help me figuring this out.
I keep wondering what is wrong with it. It starts on the lower left side of the notebook and sometimes there are some tiny vibrations. I once shut down the notebook and try to switch it on but the notebook gave out loud noise (the hard drive?), screen showed Thinkpad welcome... and then died... try to switch it on 3 times but the same thing happened again. Afterwards, I took out the external docking and put the notebook on a cold floor and switch it on again. It worked but the noise kept coming.
I keep wondering if it is a hard drive problem or cooling problem. I ran HD Tune and according to it the temp is 41-42deg. Hmmm... The notebook is not unusually hot or something and the adapter is not unusually hot too.
Because I am out of the country at the moment, I don't know how I can get help from Lenovo Service in US. Does the warranty cover service out of US anyway?
If anybody can figure out this problem, thank you so much.
