all,
how does the cooling fan work in the notebook? should not it be working all the time? or only when the machine is heated? mine is currently not working, and if the cooling fan is supposed to work all the time then i may have problem with my t41. [V]

It only runs when needed and is very quiet in the thinkpads. If your notebook has the Pentium M CPU it for sure will not run all the time unless the notebook is in a warm room.

No apology needed,
I don't know the temperature, it would not be based on the room temp, but the temp of the CPU or somewhere in the case. In any case, it will run when it's needed, so don't worry.
