On July 2, I placed an order for a T60 15" 4:3 Thinkpad. This was noon eastern time. The estimated ship date was July 16th. Today is July 4th, and I just got an email saying my laptop shipped!!
I can't believe it. I waited for two months for the T61. First shipping problems, then no release of a 15.4"/nvidia option, then random bsods and build quality issues. This is such a pleasant surprise.
Looks like Lenovo is back to super fast shipping now.
This will be my first thinkpad. And I can hardly wait.
EDIT: Good lord. I just checked again, and they also have the tracking info there now. Looks like the package left Shenzen, China a little while ago. Estimated Delivery date is July 11. Heh, I wonder if it'll actually take that long, or if like lenovo's date, it's an overestimate...
EDIT 2: Ha ha. I can't believe this. Shipping method is "Expedited" !!! Does this mean it'll be here even sooner???
Today has been my best July 4th EVER.
-
Seems like T60s are being shipped pretty fast, last few threads I've seen them shipped within a week. I was hoping my T61 I ordered on 6/28 would get the same treatment but I guess not.
-
Don't want to burst your bubble, but anything shipped overseas has to be "expedited" (ship by air) since no one ships by boat anymore. Given the recent record of T61 shipments, Lenovo would probably be better off sending them by carrier pigeon.
Nonetheless, congrats on your T60 purchase. -
Is it with FlexView?
-
Yeah, I decided on a Flexview T60 when that 250$ off coupon surfaced. It was the last thing to convince me to not buy a T61. I'll post plenty of pictures when I get it.
-
if you're on the east coast you will probably get it tomorrow or friday
-
Hard to say, but I requested ground shipping and lenovo ended up sending it next-day air. It left Hong Kong one day and arrived on the east coast the next. I was shocked.
-
Same thing here.
I've ordered one yesterday.
-
I ordered my t60 flexview Friday 6/29... last UPS update:
(which is 7:37 A.M. Eastern)
Dunno if it will get here friday tho w/ customs...
Also, the origin scan came from "SHENZHEN"... But the last 2 t60s I've ordered just said "HK". Did UPS just get more detailed? -
If the estimated delivery date is the 11th then I would expect it on the 11th. My t60p also shipped from Shenzen and it took a week to get here. Estimated for July 2nd and arrived on the 2nd. Only the Hong Kong shipments get here faster it seems.
I also waited over a month for my t61. Was a nice surprise to have my t60p ordered Thursday night and have it shipped Monday night. Very nice upgrade over my t40 too, especially with the Flexview. -
I guess I'll have to wait till the 11th then. Oh well, still stoked about the new computer =)
-
This seems to be the fastest order-to-ship time I've seen so far on this site.
-
mine was ordered around 10PM EST on a Friday night and got shipping notice on Monday. Tuesday, it was delivered at my door
-
Which model, screen size? -
Is it safe to assume that all T60 are still being build at Shenzhen, the former IBM plant?
-
T61, 15.4'', WinXp, 100G/7200RPM, what else do you want to know?
Did you already got yours?
BTW, how can I change/add my signature? I hate to retype my info. Could not find the link for update.
Edit: mine was shipped from HK. -
Not yet.
I've ordered mine on the 4th, in the morning..
And judging by this thread, I'm expecting to get a shipping notice not later than tomorrow evening.
-
Here it is.
Ordered - 07/04
Shipped - 07/06 -
Yeah they aren't wasting time on t60's. ordered 7/2, shipped 7/5.
-
wish come true? lol.....
BTW, how can I change/add my signature? I hate to retype my info. Could not find the link for update. -
"Quick Links" --> Edit Signature --> Save Signature
-
Thank you! -
I'm so antsy about this laptop... I even had a dream about it. Except in the dream, when I received it, it was WHITE like a macbook, but with a black thinkpad lid.
Paging Dr. Freud... -
Correct. I haven't seen any posts complaining about the build quality or screen of their t60. Whereas the t61's and their multitude of problems are coming from the plant near shangahi that makes the dell inspirons. Nuff said.
-
Makes me just that much more glad that I went with a 60 instead of the 61.
-
No kidding.
-
Compal's "quality" (lowspeeds machine):
http://tel3deal.com/pics/T61/ -
I don't deny there are people who have unsatisfactory T61s. I do deny that dissatisfaction is the norm. Skibunny and you, as it appears, are trying to claim that dissatisfaction is the norm through sparse anecdotal evidence or complete assertions altogether. If you look at any poll on this forum regarding T61 satisfaction, T61 BSOD's, or T61 build quality, most of the voters are completely happy with their T61's. On a forum, this rate of satisfaction is phenomenal because we all know that forums are actually breeding grounds for people to ***** about the things they own (at least more so than for people to talk about how happy they are).
-
I'm just an average shopper looking for a quality product.
I was considering the T61 all along untill the "sparse anecdotal evidence" started showing up on too many threads in this forum.
Maybe it's just an indication of temporary teething problems associated with a new design.
If I weren't buying now then I would just wait and see how it all plays out.
But at the moment the quality record seems to be quite spotty so I went with the true and proven T60. -
Really? What about the polls that show a total abundance of happy T61 customers despite the fact that forums are supposed to be full of people who complain?
If these forums show 60% unhappy customers, that already is sparse anecdotal evidence because there's a least 5 times more people who don't post on these forums just to show their happiness. But even with that considered, there's STILL more people professing to satisfaction than dissatisfaction. You really get scared too easily. Do you fall for those Mac vs. PC commercials? -
Like Johnny said, these forums are a breeding ground for people having problems with their notebooks/simply want to whine because their notebooks aren't "perfect."
Truth is, for most notebook models, Lenovo or otherwise, there are many happy owners out there who don't post here. Not saying any company is perfect, but chances are, you have a problem, you're gonna Google it, and you're going to end up here.
Simple fact of internet boards geared towards technology.
Period. End of story. -
Dude, what are you trying to prove here?
That the T61's are having a picture perfect launch?
Try again.
You sound like the one paying too much of attention to commercials. -
And the car forums, and the camera forums, and the A/V forums and so on..
That's the nature of this kinda places that will always have a disproportionate number of "complainers".
Yet, that's exactly why it's always a good idea to check out the boards to get familiar with the prevalent problems by scanning through the unfiltered responses.
BTW, this forum has very few of BS complainers in comparison to the majority of other product-oriented boards out there. -
Also, maybe it's my imagination, but I seem to see many of the same names posting in a lot of the problem threads.
Here is my bottom line. Forums are great places to sample opinions, but to make important decisions based on anonymous posters on an Internet forum is foolish. -
I pity the fool who thinks the NBR forum is a microcosm of Lenovo's customer base. Maybe you and SkiBunny are in cahoots.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015
-
Do you research the car purchases?
-
Johnny, grow up...
-
yes, but you can be sure that I don't make my decisions based on anonymous posters on Internet forums.
-
OK
Tell me about how you do it. -
Yes.......defend your logical pitfalls with the ambiguous, typical accusation of immaturity and top it off with the trademark tension equalizer "
". That's not lame at all.
-
At a minimum and in the rough order of value to me...
I sample the goods, take test drives, personally kick the tires, so to speak and consider personal history with the product and or manufacturer.
I talk with friends, family, co-workers about their experiences.
I research using professional organizations and people who aren't anonymous, making note whether they support their conclusions with data.
I research using well known and respected testing labs or surveys (if available).
Lastly, I also research using forums like these.
I'll make my decision based on a combination of the above. -
So, you place the findings of the paid by the automaker organizations (like JDPowers) above the real world experiences, shared on the forums?
-
Unhooked, you are lying to yourself if you think by placing ultimate importance on these forums you are valuing real world experiences. You are only getting a skewed outlook because you are mostly getting negative experiences because people who are getting positive experiences are nowhere to be found.
You also get incessant T61-flamers too. Guess who? -
Please let me make my own conclusions.
-
Hey, dferry, Jon-Michael, and I can't stop you from thinking whatever you want to think and making whatever conclusions you want to make. We're just trying to tell you your conclusions are incredibly stupid and biased.

Hope that makes you feel better after reading my scathingly true post. I know deep down you are still a good person. -
Apparently saying it nicely wasn't working before.

LOL unhooked
Maybe reverse-psychology (Unhooked Logic) will work.

Hehehehe.

  :twitcy: :rolleyes2:
Anyways, to get back on topic...
Simply because a group of people have problems, doesn't mean anyone has evidence that the entire company or line of computers is going to have problems.
That's called generalization.
And that's bad. -
And who makes such a claim???
-
Now to REALLY get back to the topic:
Congrats galt on getting your T61 soon. It's good to see that another customer isn't having problems.
Happy customers: 292835928
Unhappy customers: 20
Read the scoreboard, unhooked.
holy bajeesus that was fast
