    how bad is the condition of a Thinkpad with scratch or dent?

    Im thinking to buy a Thinkpad with scratch or dent condition, just wanna check out if you guys have bought a product in this conduction, how bad is it?

    scratch would be ok, dent means it might've fallen from somewhere.

    I'd be a little worried with these conditions, but as long as the price is ok and if you could check the if everything is working fine before buying then I guess it's ok.

    It's really hit or miss. I've seen relatively pristine ThinkPads, also pretty messed up ones (perhaps from shipping?).

    The first thing I do with new thinkpad shipments are to throw them to the ground first for durability.. If they survive, then I found a keeper.

    Survival of the fittest.

    If you want a laptop that you can protect, consider the macbook line.

    You're dead on here. Several of my friends have gone this route and some worked out great and others had a number of problems. Lenovo did do a decent job of trying to correct the issue he had.
